Stories, updates, and notes from our journey towards reducing food waste, enhancing plastic collection, and supporting sustainability initiatives!
Restaurants, households, and communities all generate large amounts of plastic waste, particularly soft film plastics that curbside recycling programs often can’t process. To help Plainsboro residents manage this waste more sustainably, we partnered with the Plainsboro Preserve to launch a plastic collection challenge aimed at reducing our environmental footprint. Our goal was to collect 1,000 pounds of plastic in 12 months, and thanks to the overwhelming support of township residents, we successfully reached it. The collected plastic was recycled into furniture, and the Preserve now features a bench made entirely from this material. This initiative not only addresses plastic waste but also aligns with our broader sustainability initiatives. Thank you to everyone who made a difference with us!
P.S. Keep dropping off your plastic at the Plainsboro Preserve, as it's now an annual project!
