Fighting Food Waste

Food waste is one of the largest sources of greenhouse gas emissions, responsible for nearly 8% of global emissions. When food rots in landfills, it releases methane, worsening the climate crisis. Beyond emissions, wasted food also means wasted water, energy, and labor. Reducing waste is one of the simplest, most effective ways to fight climate change, and to feed more people in the process.

We operate on two fronts: redistribution and education.

• On the redistribution side, we design systems for approval processes,  storage, and safe transportation to connect local food donors with recipient organizations.
• On the education side, we develop interactive lessons and activities for schools and youth programs, helping students understand how everyday choices around food affect climate, water, and energy systems.

Together, these efforts create a circular model that reduces waste while building environmental awareness.
